Audio-visual - Spurn Lightship (for Heritage Interactive)
We provided the storyline development, script writing and voice actors for these immersive audio-visual presentations on board the Spurn Lightship for Heritage Interactive / Hull Yorkshire's Maritime City Project.
Among the three different audio-scripts we created and voiced were 'Treacherous Humber', an introductory film. 'Fore-hold shadow show', dealing with everyday work on board. And 'On board', an audio-trail encountering snatched conversations between the men as the visitor wanders around the different cabins.
For 48 years the Spurn Lightship protected shipping on the Humber operating as a floating lighthouse. It endured all weathers, ship collisions and even attack from enemy aircraft. Its formal name is Light Vessel 12 Spurn.
Men committed to safeguarding lives and shipping permanently staffed this lightship - a critical role in one of the most treacherous waterways in the world. Originally there was a crew of seven on board, including the Master or Mate in charge, four seamen, a wireless operator and an engine man. They would be on board for a month, in later years this was reduced to a fortnight.
Script sample - Treacherous Humber
"Spurn Head - a narrow spit of land at the mouth of the Humber, moving, constantly, wagging like a finger at the passing ships and from where this Lightship takes its name."
