Living History - North Yorkshire Moors Railway
We researched and wrote the scripts for the Station Master at Goathland Station as well as planning the route around the station that school children would take during their visit.
Station Master Edward Mowforth was born in 1879 and began working for the North Eastern Railway in 1894 at the age of 14. The North Eastern Railway (NER) became the LNER in 1923 (London & North Eastern Railway). Edward lived in the station house and kept flexible hours so he was always on call and always expected to be available most of the time.
Helena Fox - Learning & Interpretation Officer:
“The performer did a fantastic job in the trickiest of circumstances with the heatwave (and the children turning out to be mainly KS1 when we had expected KS2!)”.
