Story Telling - Maritime Tales
During Lockdown, 'The Hull Yorkshire's Maritime City' project team held their annual 'Hull Folk and Maritime Festival' online. Working with actors, writers and artists, they curated an online programme of story telling, film, theatre and art.
We created three short films in which classic maritime tales were told, recorded and broadcast to celebrate the City's enduring relationship with the sea.
The performances were recorded in the studio as well as on site at the Maritime Museum in Hull and the project was beautifully illustrated by local comic book creator and illustrator Gareth Sleightholme.
Among the tales told were:
Jonah and the Grampus (as featured in the video below)
Treasure Island (an extract from)
Moby Dick (as featured in the video below)
Malcolm Dunn - Hull, Yorkshire’s Maritime City:
“Thanks so much for Treasure Island – it’s absolutely brilliant!”.
