Community Theatre - A Victorian Christmas with Scrooge (Adapted from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens)

We were once again commissioned by St Mary's Church in Beverley to write and produce their Christmas offer for 2025.

Working with the church community and choir, we created what has been described as a 'wonderful Christmas show' that highlighted the redemption of Scrooge through his visits by the spirits.

A professional cast of two was supported by three young performers as well as the church choir whose carols were embedded in the show as an integral part of the story telling.

Shift Key Theatre provided the adapted script, set, costume and sound design and it was directed by Gordon Meredith. Members of the church community controlled the lighting, sound effects and video imagery during the show, completing what was a highly successful piece of Community Theatre.

Audience reactions:

“This was such a wonderful performance - thank you so much. We really enjoyed the beautiful setting and the extremely talented group of people putting on an excellent showing of A Christmas Carol. What a lovely experience and message so close to Christmas. Thank you again and best wishes”.

"Ray and I went to see Scrooge tonight and it was, quite frankly, wonderful."
